After visiting the Normandy beaches and WWII cemeteries, I think an appropriate way to view patriotism is by being grateful for what others have sacrificed, while doing your part to preserve a good and honorable nation.

So, to me, it's not necessarily wearing a flag pin or buying a Toby Keith cd. Although, a lot of people do like being reassured by politicians outwardly displaying their patriotism.

Is it patriotic to use our freedoms to question the country when we feel the goodness and honor might be lacking? It's very important that we are grateful for what others have done, but how do we express our gratitude?

My GIP is higher than yours, that's for sure. A simple answer to your lengthy question, patriotism looks like John McCain. Have you seen his lapel? Nope, because it is covered by a flag pin.
Perhaps giving a speech from INDEPENDENCE, MO increases a lagging GIP.
Nater don't make me "stick a boot in your a**", because I have enough GIP to do it.
Good question Traver.

Mandi. Your GIP is higher than mine. In fact, I think it's 11. You probably sweat red, white, and blue don't you? Snore the National Anthem?

Way to answer so definitively, Miss Dixie High Spirit award recipient.

The "new direction" has quickly turned into a Santa Clara Vineyards newsletter. But that's not really a bad thing.

Correction: I don't "sweat" red, white, and blue, I perspire it. (Pigs sweat, people perspire- Charlene Mathis) At least when I snore the National Anthem I put my hand on my heart.
Back-to-back Spirit award (94-95). It is unusual for a junior to win, but I did. D-I, D-I-X, X-I, X-I-E, D-I-X, X-I-E- DIXIE!!!
